Wilkie Tours Pre Tour Curry at the Asha in Ashurst 4th April 2018
Wilkie is relentless. As I struggle with my illness the machine that is Wilkie Tours rolls ever on. I get along to Tour Valencia but I have to use a crutch to get round. The boys still do there extended walk-abouts but leave me in the safe confines of a near-by Caffe or Bar and pick me up when they're done. great stuff but my operation is looming and this is not the way to Tour so can't wait for my new hip and a return to Wilkie Tour reality ! ! !
Oops, got out of sync here. Wilkie slips in extra Tours willy-nilly but whatever, they are of to Bilbao next week.
Damn damn damn again. All booked and paid for and YEP I get cellulitus AGAIN ( 46 or 47 th time) the week before..............................I won't be going.........................Damn damn damn etc !
It's defo. Wilkie Tours 67 is heading to Tuscany.
Damn damn damn, stupid non-occurring operation has made me miss this upcoming excursion. Double damn as wilkie tour legend Bazz is back on board. Should be a good un.
Tour 2 of 2016 has been arranged but blow me I can't remember where! Did someone say Iceland ? ? ?
Wilkie arranging 1st tour of 2016.
Yes , Dave polling the tourers re a February Tour. I will have to hold fire as i'm waiting patiently ! ! ! for news of my impending operation.
Wilkie Tours 66 will be in Spain.
Well peeps, it's going to be a two Tour year for me this year. Yes i'll be there in December, back in the warmth of Europe. I signed up for this before my hip got seriously worse so will have to see how much I can participate. Found it a struggle having to use a walking stick for my family holiday in Cyprus Oct/Nov and now back in UK getting about is a hassle. Fingers crossed.
Wilkie Tours 65 heads to Luxembourg and Germany.
Update from Luxembourg / Germany.
Eintract Trier 3 Primasan 0.
Differange 2 Dudelange 2.
Excellent trip to see Roman sites in Trier, game livened up with 3 well executed 2nd half goals.
Top of the table battle in Luxembourg produced 2 goals for Ibrahimovic in the first half and a 2nd half come back from the home side amid umpteen yellow cards and a sending off as the ref incurred the wrath of both sets of fans.
Tony
This from Tony Sunday 8th November via comments page on blog.
Back to Germany for Wilkie Tours No. 64
Yo dudes, will try to get some more details as this tour is approaching fast, April, and Baz won't be there as neither will I. Colin's back from his tour of New Zealand and i'm sure he will be there. Later.
Italy WT 63 Perugia
Just to say after an illness interrupted absence Yours Truly is marking his return. See Perugia page for a report on our hi-jinx ! ! ! First tour without Baz. Unthinkable but true.
Spain WT 62
Czech Republic WT 61
Nuremberg
Nuremberg will be Wilkie Tours 60th Excursion and for many complicated/ridiculous reasons only three go forth on this momentous occasion. Wilkie, Phil and Tony as far as I can tell from the intel I gleaned at last night's pre-tour curry. This looks like being a 3 -matcher which will please Tony B, our Spreadsheet and facts n figures supremo ( Wilkie doesn't do ALL the sexy jobs ! ! !). Enjoy
POI. This should have been the second Tour of 2014 but the one I could have gone on, Spain, had to be cancelled and a proposed second trip to Germany also fell by the wayside. My ongoing illness played some small part in this as did major Birthdays and finances. Touring will resume in October in the new season. Cheers

Hanover
Yep, the boys are off to Germany this weekend and have three games planned Taking in Hanover, Wolfsburg and a smaller team from the Saxony region. This , as i've mentioned before is a rare occurrence and the Holy Grail of Ground-Hopping so enjoy to the Max you guys.
2014 and all points East
As mentioned in the blog ,Wilkie has been crunching the numbers and come up with the first 3 Tours of 2014. Nothing written in stone mind but something to work with.
End of Jan/early Feb looks almost certainly to be Spain, specifically Valencia. I'm defo for that though i have to say my hip problem has resurfaced. But lets say yes for the moment.
Then Dave is trying to fit in a March Tour, either at the front end or rear, not 100 % sure which. I could make the latter.
Thirdly early May. When I cannot attend. No destinations for those last two but probably an Italian one and maybe another Germany or somewhere a tad more esoteric.More news later.

100th Game !
Well it kind of slipped by didn't it? I had mentioned it being a possibility in 2013 in an earlier blog but Tony highlighted the fact that it occurred during the Bulgaria Tour. 100 games on Tour in Europe. Some achievement. Well done Dave Wilkins, that takes some organising!
Also Tony and Colin have come across a forgotten Tour ! ! ! which is being added to the Spread sheet as we speak. It will probably appear on my desk after the Hanover trip. As per, well worth perusing. It's amazing...

F Y I ......
Weebly has just completely revamped it's site so I may change a few things once I've given it a look over. Laziness says things will stay exactly as you like them. You do like them don't you?
Bulgaria holds it's breath !
Bulgaria it is then, so Phil told me last night at a local Jazz concert. Is the Ottoman Empire ready for a Wilkie Tours incursion and is Sofia up to handling all those hunky tourers ??????? Lucky Sofia I say !More info if I can get along to the Pre Bulgaria Bhuna ( I guess that's what Wilkie will call it haha) though it may clash with my family holiday. Perhaps do a satellite link-up from Cyprus and pass on any news then. It could happen ! ! !
Germany again!
Well the 2013/14 season of Wilkie Tours could indeed be heading that way again. Prices, flights, logistics, ticket availability, good food, infrastructure. It all points that way. Plus Wilkie wants to go there! ! ! ! !
Pre Hamburg Hamb............................ Curry !
Well it was an excellent turn up at Shirley's Jewel in the Crown for a superb meal of high quality with Wilkie, Col, Tony, Baz ,Phil, Clive, Yours Truly and Cols mate Keith. Hamburg it is this weekend but Sunday lower league game gone as team seems to be in liquidation or something. Have a good trip use guys ! ! !
Munich seems to be a big contender for the Autumn if Oktoberfest can be avoided. Wilkie mentioned it 38 times in 2 hours so I think he's quite keen !
Surprise news is everything I said was true last night( no jokes or surreal observations) AND I DIDN't have a Balti but a Bombay Lamb ( I'm a sucker for boiled eggs n pots in curries) which was de lish.

Wroclaw is on.
Cheeky Wilkie goes for it. All booked . Just him Col and Phil I think. No footy as far as we know just an outing.
Wilkie to slip an extra one in ! ! !
A cunning plan is brewing at Wilkie mansions that may not involve footy. He may take a punt and fly off somewhere where there may or may not be end of season play-offs. Worth a punt d
Curry trip a distinct possibility
Pre Germany curry on Wednesday, so may pop along before Jazz Club, now that I have a handle on my illness
Germany trip approaches
Must be close as Wilkie is arranging pre-tour Curry. Potentially will be back at work so may miss it. Darn.
No more Pescara pics received tho.
No more Pescara pics received tho.
Pre Pescara Passanda approaches.
As the lumbering beast that is "Wilkie Tours" prepares for it's next tour it is nearly time for our ritualistic pre tour curry. Yes, in time honoured fashion we will be gathering on Tuesday for a night of un-paralleled debauchery ( oops, pass the napkin Baz ). Yes things will get messy. I shall report on proceedings and pass on any nuggets of info that I may pick up. Rock on !
March tour fluid !
Just been speaking to Wilkie re second Tour of 2013 and he's just come up with Calabria. Interesting choice with incredibly complex logistical travel concerns and Baz's driving to contend with. Oops, Er sorry Baz, your driving is BRILL of course !
Logistics !

Taxi for Wilkie ! ! ! ! ! !
Well just been checking out Tony's totally up-dated spreadsheet and the figures are remarkable. 53 tours to date and 93 matches seen since the year 2001. AMAZING. We could be hitting the 100 match mark within 3 tours, almost certainly in 2013. Hope I can be there.

2013 Tour Info?
Will be talking about next years tours and Wilkie's latest cunning plans. Hope to get the gossip as it is revealed.
Pre Poland Pathia
Date has been arranged for 25th September. Nice one.
November will be Tour after
Dave's looking at flights as we speak, and will book v. shortly. No short-listed destinations as yet
Poland next
September sees the resumption of Wilkie Tours incursions into Europe ( Is it still there? Has it crumbled into the Sea? Are bears catholic?????). Poland has been chosen and Barry is designated driver! No Zywiec or Tyskie for you my man....
Flanders here we come.
Just had confirmation from Tony B that Wilkie Tours will be circum-navigating Flanders in May and catching a
French Ligue 2 game and hopefully a Belgium play-off game. All the details I have at this time.
French Ligue 2 game and hopefully a Belgium play-off game. All the details I have at this time.
Madrid Tour Completed..
After my last minute cancellation( I had to go to Italy instead) it was a skeleton crew who went to Spain. A good time was had by the three. See Madrid entry.
Milan successfully Navigated. No animals injured ! ( A first I think)
Well Baz's texts and a passing meeting with Wilkie suggest that Milan got a big thumbs up.
Re 50th Tour, 50% of the guys have fixed commitments so it maybe a medium size contingent who head to Madrid ( if that is indeed the chosen destination. Wilkie applies a complex geospatial and pan economic algorhythm incorporating an advanced non-euclidian template to his choice of Tour destination........................................
Then books the cheapest flights and hostels he can find).
Sorted. We hold our breath and wait ! ! ! !

Macedonia done and dusted....Italy next. Then it's the "biggie".
October 2011 is nearly over and the San Siro beckons.
Macedonia was tour number 48, Italy will be 49 and so to
The FIFTIETH TOUR by Wilkie Tours Ground Hoppers since 2001.
As you can imagine this is going to have to be something special. More news soon.

Wilkie Tours goes to Dusseldorf

There it is. The next tour is to Germany with two games for def and maybe a third if games fall into place.
It did indeed turn into a triple header for the gallant trio who made the trip. Well done Colin the Cool, Baz the Bountiful and Dave the Wilkie( I know, but I could only think of diligent, dull or draughty, see I told you......)

Sorry. As at 15-06-2011 Nothing concrete to report
Awaiting next seasons Fixture Lists and then Wilkie goes into over-drive working out all the permutations. It ain't straight forward. Noh Sir.
He has to take into Account; Saints season ticket holders, cheap flight availability, whether we've been there before(always looking for new horizons), whether we want to go back( had such a good time previously), whims, promises, New Stadiums being built, local Derbies, big match head to heads peoples work schedules and much much more. Phew. Who'd do that thankless task????? Cheers Dave, keep up the good work.....

Where to Next????
Tour 47 completed, no casualties but a few sore heads and feet. Its no picnic on tour, miles of walking you know and a glass of SHERRY before everymeal (breakfast included). Still healthy viewing figures with the odd "spike", like march's crazy 400 plus and april 1sts 127. Why?????? and 50's and 60's before and after. Very nice too. As to NexT tour, probably September time as per but awaiting information ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Dusseldorf it is
MARCH UPDATE 2011
The choice has been made, the dates chosen, but I can't make this one i'm afraid. Should be a good un.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2011
DAVE has put forward Germany as the next destination for April which is a great choice. Not straightworward as Saints games to contend with especially if they are in with a chance of automatic promotion or playoffs. There are a few season ticket holders who may not want to travel and I may have family holiday around that time. As per, more news when available.

Barca tour and the story so far
May have mentioned it once or twice ! ! (hundreds Ed) but been looking forward to this one. Sometimes the football is brilliant sometimes downright poor, sometimes the crew gels and has a fantastic social connection, sometimes you get strops and tantrums, sometimes you just can't find a decent restaurant or cup of coffee or a 2 1/2 Euro bottle of top-notch house wine, sometimes you just luck out and they're all brill so hope this is one of the good uns.
STORY SO FAR
Thought I'd just say in responce to Bazz's blog comment that It's been a great (near) 2 years with some bad moments with computers, software, up-loads(three horrible months of that early doors, on and off) lack of feed-back, response or comments but I have got to the point where I can just log on, blog on, tinker, edit and shoot the breeze. I really hope you enjoy what you see and read. Al
wilkie tours 2011
Update JANUARY 2011. Where we're at.
As noted on the Home page, Wilkie Tour 46 approaches rapidly and we can't wait to see Messi and co at Camp Nou and some of Barcelona's undoubted cultural delights. Our "Tone" has delivered a selection of pics and the latest tour history Spreadsheet that gives you a potted "snapshot" of each visit. I really hope you enjoy it.
I can't say we're 100% up-to-date on the web site as I have only been touring since my return from KSA in 2005 and haven't got access to 5 or so years of the guys photographs and have mainly used my own shots. There are loads of brill shots out there, I know i've seen some of them, but unless they're in my hands (or e-mailed to my computer) then they can't be used. Maybe this year.

Update December....................... A few hours later.... (Edit. Ooops I left the u out of hours. Lucky I noticed, as i don't want to get a reputation .....)
14-12-10
Well i'll be Jiggered. Tony about to send Florence pics plus latest Spreadsheet as we speak. Plus comments. YES COMMENTS ! ! ! !

European footy update
Update December
14-12-10
Keeping an eye on previous destinations team results and Barcelona in partic ahead of our next tour. Spain. Barcelona v Real Sociadad. 5-0 as you'd expect. Messi's second goal was Brilliant. Ronaldo's goal from 35 yards against Real Zaragosa nearly as good. Last nights 3-3 draw a great result for lowly Osasuna against high-flying Valencia. Its good to see Almeria have recovered from their 0-8 destruction by Barca with an away win at Real Z the other week.
Italy. A rejuvenated Juventus go marching on but it's Napoli who are punching above as it were nicking recent home/aways by a single goal. After rumours that Bologna were about to go under they've hit succesive wins tho AC Milan still boss the div. Roma back to winning ways against Bari and Udinese going top half after a bad season last term after beating Fiorentina. Lecce get a much needed victory in a 5 goal thriller against Chievo.
Germany.Frankfurt top 10 tho they lost at struggling Cologne. Maclarens Wolfsberg seem to be the divisions recent draw specialists with their 5th in a row.
No pics from Florence yet.

Hi guys. Just a note on upcoming additions to the web-site. Phil is preparing some photos so that I can start work on my next couple of "Ground Hopper" profiles. Obviously i've (kind of ! ! ! !) done Wilkie, but now it's time for Baz and Tony to face the music. As usual their profiles will include; some fact, some fiction,a little faction, a soupcon of friction, of course fractions,a handfull of science fiction, medical infarctions and not forgetting character demolition. Bet you're all looking forward to that ! ! ! !

Update
21-02-10
Well the trip after Portugal was nearly going to be Barcelona but the day Wilkie was going to book the plane tickets the prices sky rocketed. Arrrrgggghhhhh. Germany had been mooted for a quick weekend but Saints playing at home put a stop to that. So at the moment nothing definite planned. There is talk of repeating being on tour for the World Cup and watching the final in a European bar or cafe mixing with the locals. Probably going to happen.
Update

29-09-09
Hi guys, long time no see.
well this is where we are going to add a list of Tour destinations (actually probably be best to go straight to Destinations page towards the end of the site, ED) and expand the information in the spreadsheet. I will give a brief descripton of what went on and an hilarious (I doubt it) anecdote or two. In the not too distant future we will get together and choose some apt photos to give a feel of what went on that tour.
We'll mention the future now as Wilky tours heads to a significant mile-stone. Well in October the lads will be celebrating the 40th Wilkie Tour. Yes 40 tours have been racked up. This momentous occasion will be marked by a 9 man excursion ( a record me-thinks) to a top-secret location. We will hopefully have the lap-top loaded and streaming info and Baz has been tasked with getting us "All-a-Twitter". More news later.
