As we were Hank Marvin after a long day, we parked up for a snack and before we knew it we were dashing up to the ground arriving after kick-off. Relax, no scoring had occurred. We were then treated to a surprisingly entertaining game, with both sides attacking at will. The visitors from Beveren ran out 4-2 winners.
We drove back into Belgium on Saturday to visit the Mons Memorial Museum, opened in 2015, before heading back into France to park up near Lille's Pierre-Mauroy stadium. We had pre-booked parking at Canton multi-storey, 15 minutes walk from the ground. Lille had already guaranteed second place and Champions League football next season. With an exciting, pacy forward line they opened the scoring after 2 minutes and went on to beat Angers 5-0.
We spent Sunday in Ypres taking in the sights, our time was spent mainly in the Cloth Hall 'In Flanders Fields' museum. The Wellington Tunnels in Arras was the highlight of our last day.
