First up was a Friday evening, level-3 fixture at Rapid Vienna's Allianz Stadion with Rapid II taking on Wiener SC on a pitch adjacent to the first team's stadium, a tad disappointing as the club's website stated that the game would be played in the main arena. However, a 4-2 victory for Rapid's second team proved to be a fine start to the weekend's football.
The Saturday afternoon fixture was at Admira Wacker, rock bottom of the Bundesliga, where the visitors were Hartberg. The home side fought back to lead after going behind early in the game and looked to have earned a point only to concede an injury time goal, despite having a man advantage midway through the second half.
Austria Wien took a first minute lead against Wolfsberger in the Sunday afternoon Bundesliga match, then regained the lead before half-time. There was only one team in it in the second half, and it was no surprise to see the visitors run out 2-3 winners.
So, with final scores of 4-2, 2-3 and 2-3, we saw 16 goals and some decent football to boot.
