After Rochdale's magnificent achievement of fighting back against Spurs to earn a money-spinning replay at Wembley, having struggled at the bottom of League 1 this season, rekindled hope that Wigan might even do better at home to City.
And so it proved, after a controversial first-half sending off Wigan defended superbly against a dominant City and scored the only goal of the game with pretty much their only shot on target. Irishman Will Grigg was most definitely on fire! So, Saints now go to Wigan's DW Stadium with a semi-final place and a Wembley appearance at stake. Saints will be somewhat relieved not to be facing favourites City, but Wigan Athletic will also fancy their chances at home to a struggling PL team!
Wigan won the FA Cup and were relegated from the Premier League in the same season back in 2013. Could this unusual feat be repeated by Southampton FC this year?
